The Challenge
Lumburra Bimbi is the recognised cultural heritage body for the Western Kangoulu People. Protecting Country requires accurate mapping of cultural sites across a large and diverse landscape, while also ensuring knowledge is recorded respectfully and stored securely.
Our Approach
We worked with Lumburra Bimbi to develop a GIS solution tailored for cultural heritage management. The system integrates traditional knowledge with modern mapping technology, enabling secure recording of heritage sites and supporting informed decision-making for land use and project planning.
The Results
The GIS platform provides Lumburra Bimbi with a reliable, centralised record of Western Kangoulu cultural heritage. It strengthens their ability to protect significant places, guide consultation, and ensure Country is managed in line with cultural obligations.
